Plastisol is the world’s market leader in the manufacture of glass-fibre reinforced bodies for structural and aircraft fire-fighting and rescue vehicles. Plastisol’s more than 35 years’ experience in body manufacturing enables the company to supply almost every required body in accordance with the user’s specific needs. Design and manufacturing facilities are located at Plastisol’s main plant in the Netherlands and also at Plastisol Composites in the United States.
Plastisol is a genuine family company, established in 1973. In Wanroij, in the south of The Netherlands, production started with water and foam tanks. In 1985 Rob Walraven, the current owner and CEO, took over the company from his father and his vision was to specialise further into fire-fighting vehicles and to continue the development of complete bodies, chassis cab, and crew cab extensions. Since 1985 the company has also increasingly focused on exports: today more than 90% of Plastisol’s products are exported all over the world, while the market share in its Dutch home market is more than 50%.
At this moment Plastisol is employing over 125 people on a 27,000 square feet facility, while plans for expansion are in a final stage. In 1993 Plastisol’s high quality level was awarded with the ISO 9001 certificate, later followed by the AQAP 2110 certificate for specialised military applications, while Plastisol is also working according to the ISO 14001 environmental regulations for years.
The Wanroij plant designs, develops, manufactures and constructs bodies, cabs, crew cabs and tanks. The company’s glass-fibre reinforced polyester products are supplied to a continually increasing number of market segments. In addition to the fire departments and airports, also ambulance and police departments throughout the world have become customers of Plastisol. The composite bodies are also produced for military applications and, increasingly, for commercial applications such as passenger busses, commercial vehicles, and multi-functional slide-off containers.
In 2006 Rob Walraven started Plastisol Composites in the United States, which was officially opened on October 31st 2008. The new manufacturing facilities in Groton, New York will improve service to the world-wide market place.
